All the Answers You Seek, In One Place

WHAT IS PSYCHOTHERAPY?

Psychotherapy refers to a range of treatments that can help with mental health problems, emotional challenges, and some psychiatric disorders.  Psychotherapy aims to enable patients, or clients, to understand their feelings, and what makes them feel positive, anxious, or depressed. This can equip them to cope with difficult situations in a more adaptive way.  Psychotherapy can provide help with a range of concerns, from depression and low self-esteem to addiction and family disputes. Anyone who is feeling overwhelmed by their problems and unable to cope may be able to benefit from psychotherapy.

HOW LONG AND HOW OFTEN ARE SESSIONS?

A therapeutic hour is considered 50 minutes and the frequency of sessions will be discussed and determined by you.

ARE FEES COVERED BY INSURANCE?

Psychotherapy services may be covered by your extended health insurance plan or by EAP.  Please check with your insurance company, human resources, or union office to learn about the availability of insurance coverage.  The processing of insurance claims is your responsibility.

Fees are payable at the end of each session by cash, cheque or e-transfer.  A receipt will be provided for insurance or income tax purposes.

WHAT IF I NEED TO RESCHEDULE A SESSION?

To help schedule our time and provide timely services to others, it is appreciated that should you need to cancel or reschedule a session you contact your counsellor well in advance.  A fee may be charged for missed sessions or for those cancelled with less than 24 hours notice.
